Time to Start Blogging Again
I've had a blog for a while, but I've never really bothered to do much with it. Now that I'm a gazillion miles away from the life I've known for most of the past 20 years, I think it's a good time to start. I have no idea what's going to come of it, but we shall find out I suppose. For now, here's a general idea of what's been going on in my life for the past few weeks.
I am in my third week of classes at NAU, and so far I've really enjoyed my time here. My roommate and I get along really well, and I like most of my classes. As a result of my education classes, I have decided that I really am excited about getting a teaching degree. I'm not saying that I want to be a traditional teacher forever, but it seems that it's going to be more exciting than just paying off my college bills. I'm hoping that I'll be able to start out overseas though :) We shall see.
I found a church here on campus with a group of people that I absolutely adore. The teaching is sound, very biblical, and very relevant. God is good! I haven't found a job yet, in spite of the fact that I feel like I've filled out a million applications, so I'm just giving it to God and persisting in my search.
That's the basic gist of what's been happening since I left home. Hard to believe it's been almost a month since I last saw Bath. It's gone by really fast.
In addition to the happenings in Arizona, I want to use this blog to update you all on the situation in Kenya right now. I have been trying to send out email and Facebook updates, but I've decided that it will be easier to post what I know all in one place.
Last week, it appeared that things in Kenya were starting to look up, however, they have taken a turn back into chaos in the last couple days. The death toll is now over 900, and over 250,000 have been displaced from their homes. Adele returned to Kenya this weekend, but for security reasons, she can't post much more about the political situation and the violence that is happening there. Daniel Lipparelli, another missionary in the Eldoret area, has been posting a lot of very informative blogs as well as news articles from the New York Times and other international papers. Personally, I've found that BBC news, the Times, and Google news are the best sources for up to date info. I will try to post anything I find on here for those of you who are interested. Please continue to pray for Kenya's leaders, the ELI staff, the children, and most of all for peace.
That is all I have for my return to the blogging world for now. Mungu akubariki, rafiki!
